Girls in Aviation Day, on September 20, proved to be an awesome day for Gore’s 5th grade girls! They received T-shirts, bags, lanyards, STEM projects, and lots of neat aviation stuff. The girls got in a helicopter, walked through and around a passenger plane. The flight simulator was really cool! Their teacher, Mrs. Ridinger, won a #7 Thunder jersey signed by Chet Holmgren. The girls listened to Eileen Collins, the first female astronaut and first female space station commander, and then had their picture made with her! The day ended with ice cream, thanks to Mrs. Pugh. It was a great day to be a 5th grade girl Pirate!
